The natural hair growth cycle would involve daily hair loss. Expect to lose hair from the 10% which is in a resting phase. Sudden illness or fever: you can see large chunks of hair falling off after any serious illness or fever. This is however a temporary event.

Childbirth, menopause, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and aging are some of the other factors which could be behind hair loss. There are other reasons for hair loss over and above these main ones.

1. Incorporating Vitamins A, B, C and E is essential for good hair growth. Why are these vitamins important for hair loss? Their beneficial actions include: providing sebum, improving blood circulation to the scalp by increasing absorption of oxygen and collagen.

2. Care for the scalp: It would help a lot if you regularly massage your scalp using herbal oils like olive oil, jojoba oil, amla oil. Some of the essential oils which are effective in conditions of alopecia areata include that of thyme, rosemary, lavender and cedar wood.

3. Concern for scalp abuse: Blow drying and using chemical shampoos daily are to be avoided. Your hair and scalp stand to get damaged if you use harsh chemical processes like coloring as well as straightening. Even a daily hair wash with hot water can damage hair as well as the scalp with the drying up of natural oils and hair breaking easily.
